As Objects is a series of sculptures created using cardboard and hot glue. These sculptures represent larger than life men arranged to represent passengers on public transportation. The viewer is prompted to sit in an empty seat amongst the sculptures in order to experience what it is like to be immersed amongst them. As Objects highlights what the male gaze feels like by giving those that don’t experience it an opportunity to feel its effects. This piece is directed towards the men who enact the male gaze in reality and those who have to inevitably suffer through it. Temporarily forced into a position of complete inferiority, viewers can walk away with a new sense of what it means to experience unwarranted objectification and stares in public.
